Experience from implementing digital twins for maintenance in industrial processes

Abstract The capability of estimating future maintenance needs in advance and a timely manner is prerequisite for reliable manufacturing with high availability production unit. Additionally, conducting planned efforts regularly prematurely increases the service lifetimes utilization rates parts, which leads to more sustainable production. benefits predictive are obvious, but introducing it into facility poses various challenges. In this study, digital twins well-functioning machines used maintenance. discrepancies between each physical unit its twin detect needs. A thorough evaluation method over period 18 months by comparing detection results control system logs shows promising results. successful detecting discrepancies, paper describes techniques that used.
